Preschool education at Niebieska Przystań

A modern preschool is much more than a place for care and play. It’s a space where first passions are born, interests take shape and individual strengths develop. At Niebieska Przystań – a preschool in Warsaw where education goes hand in hand with warmth, commitment and openness to every child’s potential – we believe every child has a talent. Our role is to notice it, nurture it and help it grow.

Every child brings something unique to preschool – curiosity, sensitivity, a way of looking at the world. Adults’ role isn’t to “produce talents”, but to give a child space to discover for themselves what really interests them.

📌 In this article you’ll learn:

Child development at a Warsaw preschool – what guides us?

For us, child development at a Warsaw preschool isn’t only about getting ready for school or learning basic skills. It’s a process of supporting the whole child on their individual path – emotional, social, cognitive and creative.

At Niebieska Przystań we focus on observation and attentiveness. Our teachers’ everyday work is based on understanding children’s needs and abilities, not on rigid patterns. This lets us adapt teaching methods to particular groups and individual children. We watch what children bring with them – what interests them, what they’re good at and where they need support.

As Anna Kądzielnik – our head, and someone who truly understands children’s needs – says:

“There isn’t one path of development for all children. Every child has a different pace, different interests, a different sensitivity. That’s why individualising learning is key in a preschool teacher’s work. Observing a child’s strengths lets us follow their natural potential and support it in the right direction.”

A preschool that develops talents – everyday life full of inspiration

Niebieska Przystań is a preschool that develops talents, where children can try their hand at different things from an early age. But this isn’t about “producing geniuses” or pressure to succeed. The foundation of what we do is supporting children’s natural curiosity and their drive to discover the world.

In our everyday work with children we use a wide range of methods and activities – from art, movement and music to logic and maths, sensory and nature activities. We give children space to experiment, make mistakes, ask questions and look for their own answers. A talent can show itself in any activity – it just needs a chance.

An everyday example

During an art session, one boy preferred arranging compositions from conkers and leaves he’d collected on the way, rather than painting. The teacher didn’t send him back to the easel — she let him carry on, asking about his choice of colours and shapes. A few weeks later, the same boy suggested to the group that they make a shared “nature installation” in the corridor. Sometimes a talent shows itself exactly when a child is allowed to follow their own path.

Extra activities at a preschool in Warsaw – space to develop passions

Extra activities at our preschool in Warsaw play a special role in developing interests, and we organise them with children’s all-round development in mind. At Niebieska Przystań they include:

  • music sessions with elements of rhythm and singing;
  • art and ceramics workshops;
  • the basics of ballet and modern dance;
  • robotics and programming for young children;
  • sports and general fitness sessions;
  • English taught by immersion;
  • meetings with artists and specialists in different fields (for example puppet shows, science experiments, concerts).

These activities are led by enthusiasts who can share their love of a subject with children and support them in their first steps. Importantly, every child can try different activities and decide for themselves what suits them. We don’t force or judge – we support and accompany. You’ll find the full list of activities on our Extra activities page.

Learning through relationships and experience

At Niebieska Przystań we know that the most lasting results come from learning based on relationships and real experience. That’s why we focus on:

  • small groups where every child is noticed and cared for;
  • a warm atmosphere and a real partnership with children and parents;
  • daily contact with nature and outdoor activities;
  • shared projects that develop creativity and teamwork;
  • our own programmes that develop skills for the future: communication, empathy and problem-solving.

Every day brings new opportunities for a child to discover themselves and build a positive self-image. We try to strengthen what a child is good at, while also supporting them in more difficult areas – with patience and understanding.

What can you do today?

The easiest way to discover your child’s interests is to watch them during free, unstructured play.

  • Watch what your child chooses for themselves when nobody is suggesting anything.
  • Don’t judge the result — ask about the process, not whether it “came out nicely”.
  • Offer a variety of materials — sometimes a talent shows up in a completely unexpected activity.
  • Don’t compare your child with their peers or siblings.
  • Let them try and give up — not every interest has to last.

Parents who choose Niebieska Przystań often say it’s a place unlike any other. It isn’t only beautifully arranged rooms and modern equipment. It’s above all the people – a team full of passion, openness and commitment who, every day, create a preschool that is a real “haven” (przystań) for a child and their family.
